Forget the fab four, think the fab 12. For the next 12 weeks, it’s quiz time again and this time, I will be testing your knowledge of British beetles. Many beetles have metallic or iridescent coloured elytra and thorax, making them - the real shining stars of the show. Beetles can live in a wide range of habitats. Some can fly and others cannot. Some have long antennae, and others long legs. Some have even mastered the art of disguise! Prepared to be be(et)dazzled and if you’re feeling lucky, perhaps you can even guess the bonus quiz question!Magical mystery beetle quiz #1Clue: Perhaps you haven’t herd the horns of Nimon.Bonus quiz: Kestrel let her.
'Morning Mrs T ... this looks good!
Have the bonus one but will leave it for others, maybe TJ can get this before he jets off to foreign soil?
Edit: have an idea for the main one too!

Oh, that's kind of you, Wendy. You over-rate my abilities but I'll have a go.
I had to look up the Horns of Nimon and having seen a representation of the creature I'm going to guess Stag Beetle but Who knows if I'm right. LOL. The use of the word "herd" in the clue might link to stag.
I'll leave the bonus clue to the Kestrel lady.

I will try Devils Coachman until my thinking head wakes up !!
I can only make "helter skelter" out of the 2nd clue

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Thanks TJ!! I came up with Stag too after re-aquainting with the old Doctor!
I will keep quiet about the bonus until S & E have a shot!
I will go with Stag but a bit puzzled by the bonus - will have to think about that

Well, you're on the right track S!
think stag beetle is the first one
And whirligig for the 2nd the only one I can think of with anagram helter skelter
Ray
a good laugh is better than a tonic
I will have to rethink this one after they have given my thinking head an M.O.T. in the morning !!
Now the question is, is it Stag beetle or Lesser Stag beetle and how did you get Whirlygig from helter skelter - even as a dyslexic I couldn't manage that!

Type into Google 'definition of whirligig' CinJ ... Construction of helter skelter is a spiral .. ie, whirl (as in Walnut Whip?). Does that help or are you more confoosed than before??? Lol
