Just for fun. Three common birds, three tricky poses (or dodgy photos, depending on how you look at it). Who can ID them? :)

1. B-h gull? Do the eyes give the Goldcrest away,Alan?
1 Little Egret LOL !! post edit, I thought the shadow of the far wing was a long neck lol so changing my mind to a Gull !! Think Edge is right with B.H. Gull with the dark tips
2 agree with Alan on Coot
3 also agree, the large eye makes it look like its a Goldcrest

Hi,Hazy.re: egret..I have more chance of the Queen calling and I wouldnt call her `common` lol.
Lol Edge, X-posted with your reply ! I need specsavers lol
I thought it was a neck at first and had toyed with "snow goose" for a second,so I need psychiatric help!
Lol Edge, it wasn't until I clicked to enlarge it I saw it was the far wing ! at least the colour was right for a snow goose and egret lol
Med gull
coot
goldcrest

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
So, you've taken on the Seymour mantle have you, aiki?
My bid is for:
Black-headed Gull
Coot
Goldcrest
I shall probably be just as successful, not.

This was clearly too easy! Black-headed Gull, Coot, Goldcrest. The only one that caused any issues was the gull, which is IDable by its wing pattern. Note the distinct white leading edge, formed by the outermost three-and-a-half primaries, with black primary tips (on Med Gull the grey is lighter, and the wingtip all white, except in subadults where there'd be thin black leading edges rather than tips). TeeJay, I am sure Seymour will be back with more mysteries in the fullness of time :)
