Welcome to the RSPB Communities Christmas Advent calendar! Rather than chocolates (sorry), with each day that leads up to the big day, why not open a virtual Advent calendar window and reveal a teaser for you to ponder or post a picture. There is no right or wrong answer, the answers will simply be what you want to appear in that window. It’s Christmas, so let’s have some fun!Claire
For me it's the summer and hopefully warm sunny days seeing all the young birds growing and starting to fly.
Regards,
Ian.
It's got to be Spring/late Spring for me. Birds in full song, all the migrants returning, new life emerging. It also means I've survived another winter which is becoming an increasing challenge these days.

Just love winter when it is clear and frosty but not always happy bout travelling about in the snow.Standing about counting winter visitors may require extra clothing but can be very worthwhile.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Definitely spring for me - the birdlife goes potty on our doorstep, everything starts looking green again and all the lovely migrating birds start returning, including the ospreys.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Winter. It's the time when we are most likely to see an unusual bird in our garden.
There is also plenty of other wildlife about too.

My Flickr account is here
Spring, because the birds are getting active, but there are still no leaves to spoil the view
Summer, because all the interesting bugs come out to see what's happening
Autumn - it's wader time!
Winter, because hungry birds are braver than normal
Not sure I have a favourite!

Day 20:Favourite fish?Note to self: if you get up early before your patients you can get ahead of the game. My favourite fish has to be the Pike. That said I would really like to see a Coelacanth in the wild. Oddly enough they are not all that common here in Bedfordshire.
Blennies! Just think they're cute and a nice find in rockpools!

Stickleback. Used spend hours catching them as a kid and gazing at them in Jam jars. Whenever I see one in a stream or river now, I am instantly transported back to those lovely sunny childhood days!
