Welcome to the RSPB Communities Christmas Advent calendar! Rather than chocolates (sorry), with each day that leads up to the big day, why not open a virtual Advent calendar window and reveal a teaser for you to ponder or post a picture. There is no right or wrong answer, the answers will simply be what you want to appear in that window. It’s Christmas, so let’s have some fun!Claire
I think I would like to be a Bottle-nosed Dolphin. They are intelligent, live in family groups and seem to have fun.

I've decided to be a Wild Cat so that I can hiss & spit & growl as the fancy takes me....oh, & will live in the forest at Loch Garten so that I can watch & drool over the Ospreys (double enjoyment if I am able to remember my former life!)

Day 10:Favourite bird song?

Regards,
Ian.
A toss up between the lovely mellow blackbird and the cheeky robin.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Sorry, impossible to pick one. When I used to work outside all day in the vineyard (often on my own) the Skylarks, Woodlarks & Cirl buntings would keep me company for hours on end. Then there are the beautiful Golden Orioles & Nightingales, so tuneful. The Wryneck who has such a strident call for such a little bird. The Blackcaps, Melodious warblers & other warblers who sing from every hedge. The long-tailed tits who announce their arrival & lovely gt tits who are often the first to start in the Spring, the Robins & Blackbirds........... I love them all.
OH is crazy about turtle doves & can hear one at 500 paces.
Best wishes

Often confused with Tui's, but it has to be the haunting sound of the Bellbird. But the sound of a Blackbird on a summer evening ain't bad either.
Very difficult to pick a favourite but amongst others I really love the Dunnock's song and also the Curlew is up there for me as well.

I'll chirp in with wren, so much noise from such a small bird, its so distinctive, an essential part of the woodland soundtrack!

I think my favourite bird song has to be Chicken Tonight.
