Hello !
I live on the north Somerset coast in a medium sized town.
I have a small, town garden that attracts quite a lot of various birds as there are 2 large parks and woods very close by.
On Friday (8th Jan) a flock of Redwings and a flock of Fieldfares took up residence in the garden behind me, the Holly tree and the Ivy on the fence, i've been watching them all day since ...... getting nothing done in the house at all !!!
Hey ho :-)
Hello Redwing :)
I've just discovered Fieldfares too. They have almost cleared the marachino cherry bush in the orchard.
Welcome to the forum,
Hi Cuddicat !
This is the first time i've seen them in this garden, i moved here 3 years ago and when i saw them arrive on Friday i was chuffed to bits !!!
They seem to travel with the Redwings, don't they ? !
Hello Redwing. As you say both fieldfare and redwing will love your berries and you can put out some fruit for them.
Hi Redwing,
Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy it here, it is a good forum where you can share your birds with everyone else, get tips and advice, and see some beautiful photos.
As Brenda says, if you put out some fruit in your garden the fieldfare and redwngs will come down for it. They like apples that have gone over a bit, chopped up. I should add that I have never seen fieldfare or redwing in or near my garden, and am envious of all those who have.
Cheers, Linda.

They love apple quarters, just watch them toss them around the garden but they dont take long to polish them off
Its nice to be important but its more important to be nice
Hi Redwing and welcome to the forum. I am sure you will enjoy it here.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Do you have any berries left they strip them over night. 15 years ago was the last time saw redwings there were around 30 in my grandfathers holly tree and over night they ate the lot.

Ive triedto take a pictureof a fieldfare or farefield as my son calls it for my son to take to school but the fieldfare seems to be very cautious even though I hide behind the blinds. He seems to hear the slightes sound and then flies back up into the tree again
Not the best pics in the world but hope they can help you
