Welcome Neil, and congratulations on the Fieldfare. Brilliant.
One rule about these forums - all declarations of new birds to the garden must be accompanied by a photo, or we won't believe you!!! (joking)
Cheers, Linda.

Hi there - I'm new on the forum too. Good call on that Fieldfare.
Went for my first birdwatching walk of the year yesterday - only to the local park, but I did manage to see a grey heron getting mobbed by some crows (the heron must've been lost as there aren't many water features in the immediate vicinity), a mistle thrush ground-feeding alongside some more crows, a blue tit in the trees and a small flock of long-tailed tits. The sign at the park entrance says that greater-spotted woodpeckers and nuthatches have been seen there, so fingers crossed for those!
My birdwatching resolution for 2010 is to learn to identify their songs better - this has been a blind spot with me for many years! I have now uploaded a couple of birsong CDs onto my I-pod, which I think is as good a statement of intent as I can manage right now.
Happy birding in 2010 everyone!
Nick

Hello Nick, sound like you enjoyed your bird watching walk. Good luck with the bird song ID.
Welcome Neil & Nick,
Can I ask what the bird is in your Avatar Pic Neil. I also like going to see birds & animals in Zoo's or Wildlife parks.
Have fun on the site. It's really useful & you get to see some fanatstic photo's (none of them taken by me though :-( ).
