This Osprey - first spotted on Thursday 15th October, I saw again, in the same tree and feeding on large gold fish again on Thurday 29th October 1pm. The bird does look a bit 'rough'. The exact location is near a large stately looking house between Burstwick and Halsham. And another house nearby does have a very large pond at the back of it. There are also several fishing ponds about 2 miles down the road in the village of Halsham.
I of course did not have camera with me. But I will return tomorrow morning (friday 30th) with it. Is it because of the mild weather and inexhaustable supply of gold fish and koi carp it could be hanging around ? Is it an immature bird ?
Coincidently, I only pass through these two villages on Thursdays because I have to deliver fish (haddock) to some shops in Withernsea !
the bones, as I said on other page, I am not happy if the poor bird 'looks rough'. Would hate to think it was weak from lack of food or even ill. Maybe you should take some extra fresh fish with you for the osprey.
