Greetings

Hello

No sooner did I receive the email telling me about this site than I was searching for my avatar ready to join and half an hour later, voila. Needless to say I am still finding my way around the site but so far it looks really good.  I love birds and nearly all wildlife - am closely following the ospreys' journey - and I look forward to making lots of new friends here.

The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.

The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

  • Lol Squirrel!

I couldn't even get ON the site after receiving the e-mail; I guess due to a mass influx of new subscibers!! Love your avatar btw!

Like you I'm finding the site very good so far & also look forward to sharing many discussions, photos and advice with new friends!

  • Hi MarJus and many thanks for the quick response. That surprised me as I half-expected everyone except me to be at the Birdfair in Rutland.

I have rather fallen in love with your avatar as well. I was tempted to use a photo of a Dusky Eagle Owl (somewhat unimaginatively named Dusky!) I recently met but decided to go with the squirrel.

  • I've been lucky to see this Little Owl a few times on my way to work, always on the same pole!

Hoping to get to the bird fair next year actually as I've never been. Have you?

Was the baby red in your garden?

  • I also have not been to the Bird Fair yet but, like you, I hope to go next year.

My avatar came from a selection of avatars on the internet. I do have a grey squirrel visit my garden now and then. Perhaps a touchy subject but I have no problem with him. I put out dedicated squirrel food which he is more than happy with. Indeed, if anything he is the loser as the birds steal his food rather than the other way around!

  • Hi- Same happened to me- I couldn't get on this site for hours. I have just joined up now. Hope to be talking with you all soon :)

  • Hi Squirrel!

Perhaps we ought to have a 'meet up' at the fair with any other forumites that are going!

As for greys, I like them too and don't have much of a problem with them although it would be nice to see more reds about!

    Hi Bemused26!

I'm sure there must be lots of new people on here today! Loved your pic in the goldfinch thread by the way!

  • Hi MarJus

That sounds like a really great idea - if we start planning now we might all get there.

Hi Bemused26 - perhaps the wait for some is an age thing as I'm no spring chicken and got straight here. Sort of... let the old dear on now and get her out of the way!

A couple of questions:- 1. Anyone know where the smilies are? 2. I just got 4 notifications of one reply. Am I doing something wrong?
