I have footage of a small bird in my garden this morning that has a speckled breast like a thrush but is of similar size to a robin, I am not quite sure what it is but it does look like a Northern Waterthrush??
It will be a redwing. The red/orange its name refers to is often not visible.
We had Redwings in the garden earlier last year feeding on the berries and they seemed to be in groups where as this bird was on it's own, so a bit confusing as I couldn't see any red markings on it either??
We often have one on its own each Winter. Just groups here so far this Winter, but far from unusual to see one in a garden on its own.
The only thing that is confusing me is that it looked smaller than a Redwing more the size of a Robin?
Happy to take a look at the footage, but if it looks like a waterthrush, it is more likely to be a redwing than a robin.
Thank you for taking the time to reply and yes probably a redwing!!
