I have recently started feeding birds in the garden and I am noticing loss of feathers and quite frankly scruffy birds, I suspect canker!
I thought I was doing a good thing but might be harming them.
I attach a photo of a pigeon and any advice would be most welcome.
Thanks
In general, feeding birds will be a benefit, but If you're concerned about possible disease, the RSPB recommend you clean bird feeders, tables and baths at least once a week, and the water in bird baths should be changed daily. Hope that helps
It is moulting season, so more than likely, that's what it is.
Thanks Adam, I will absolutely follow those instructions
Thanks William, I would hate to think I am harming them. Of course, I am sure they don't exclusively feed here, but clearly I want to benefit them not harm them. Hopefully they are moulting as suggested.
