Hi everyone thank you for having me,unfortunately today a sparrowhawk took a female sparrow of whom i watched the past couple of days going back and forward obviously feeding her young,i am distraught now, knowing that the babies are now without their mum! Dad is around but he didnt seem as confident to take food,i cannot be sure where the nest is i only have a rough idea but im so worried they die
Sorry to hear and thats a tricky one.
If dad does not feed them, they will likely die unless they are very close to fledgling.
I would have searched and extracted the chicks for hand-feeding but sparrows nest in groups near one another, so you can actually end up raiding another nest which has both parents around.
Nothing can be done it looks like.
