Has anyone seen a Green Woodpecker in Cornwall. I am just wondering if any have been seen here?
We have a pair of Great Spotted Woodpecker’s that I have seen occasionally
It seems that they are around in Cornwall Sally according to this site

Would be worthwhile searching google to find local birding groups to ask about sightings!

Green Woodpecker don’t use bird feeders. This short article is about Green Woodpeckers. They are common and yet I’ve only seen Green Woodpeckers on a very few occasions myself.

Ian.
Many thanks. I was lucky enough to see a green woodpecker in Oxfordshire where I once lived many years ago. A beautiful sight.
I am more likely to hear them rather than see them. I find them very tricky to spot.

The last tiime I saw a Green Woodpecket wax in 2018 and then only for about 10 seconds.
As for the Green Woodpecker, it's not a common sight in Cornwall, but it's not unheard of either. According to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), the Green Woodpecker is a rare and irregular visitor to Cornwall, and sightings are usually limited to a few individuals per year.
However, it's not impossible to spot one in the area. The Green Woodpecker is a woodland species, and Cornwall has its fair share of woodlands, especially in the north and west of the county.
If you're interested in spotting a Green Woodpecker, I'd recommend keeping an eye out for them in areas with mature woodlands, such as:
As for your Great Spotted Woodpeckers, that's wonderful! They're a common sight in many parts of the UK, and it's great that you've been able to spot them occasionally.
Keep an eye out for those Green Woodpeckers, and who knows, you might just spot one in your neck of the woods!

This was the sound of a Green Woodpecker that I heard today at my first ever visit to the RSPB’s headquarters at the RSPB The Lodge reserve in Bedfordshire nest Sandy! This wasn’t my recording! But I heard the same sound which was of course the Green Woodpecker. Heard but not seen as is usually the case. Only by me a small number of times since I started my interest in birdwatching as a 5 year old in 1958 but only seen a Green Woodpecker on only a very few occasions in person and then only for about 10 seconds or less each time.. Another sound I heard today at the Lodge, was the sound of a Cuckoo which was very nice as the sound of the Cuckoo is not heard as often as used to be the case!
