Hi
I have a beautiful blue tit nesting in a bird box. The box gets sun from mid morning to around 2pm. Should I add extra shade to the wall above the box without disturbing the box?
I also had a peep into the box with an endoscopic camera to see how things are progressing. She was sat on her eggs and I’m sure she saw the camera ( slim endoscope type). Now I’m worried she might leave.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Jenny, you should definitely have not gone anywhere near the box as against wildlife laws to interfere with an active nest in any way ... you will now have to leave well alone and hope that the parent does not abandon her eggs and hope that progress is not affected by the sun! At the end of nesting season you can clean out the box and reposition somewhere better, in September, maybe treat yourself to a camera nestbox.. here is some info on best position

Agree with Wendy. Jenny you may want to change your user name from your email address. This is an open site and you could get junk, spam and unwanted trolling. To change it, go to the top right symbol, go into profile and a bit down the right you will see, edit profile, you an hanged your name in the top left box, then save profile.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Thank you both. It’s a learning curve.
for successful nest!
