I would like advise as I have moved to new house and next door neighbour keeps over 400 budgies in his shed and garage. They are very noisy and he keeps a light on for them until 10pm so they are noisy until late at night. Is this legal in the Uk for someone to keep this amount of birds in there house of residence on a residential street? Please advise?

This is in brief the law as it stands involving keeping wild birds and animals in the UK. If you wanted too, you can also look through the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act. But the above in brief give the law on keeping wild birds and animals in the UK. But as far as buggies and numbers that anyone keep. As long as they are being looked after in a safe and environment way that would be ok. But as far as noise is concerned I’m not sure. You may have to contact your local authority. It would depend on the noise level. As there are laws about the noise levels in UK law in a residential aria. But at what sound level I’m not sure and that is only after certain hours. Of course noise levels would be allowed at higher levels in emergencies in residential aria’s.

Ian.
It appears that it is compulsory to register if keeping 50 or more captive birds. This includes aviary bird species.

Probably to do with tracking, monitoring and any controls related to avian influenza?
