Feeding of birds

Hello.

I have had to stop feeding birds in my garden due to 2 young rats being spotted over a week ago.

I have called someone in as they are also in the loft..:(

My question, as they are still around (at least overhead) can I at least put a feeder up even for a short time?

I get a little batch of starlings, and I'm concerned that they may disappear from the neighbourhood if I stop

feeding for long.. or could I perhaps pop a feeder in the front garden instead??

Any advice welcomed! Thank you.

  • Hi Rose and welcome to the forum ... I also had rats and had to stop feeding altogether because they had multiplied quite rapidly in our area but if you resight just one feeder it may well work as apparently rats don't like change! I suggest that you use a spillage tray attached to your feeder and make sure there are no shrubs/fences/ trees nearby that the rats can use for access should they find the feeder, also clear up the ground of spilled seeds! Wish you luck!
