What a revelation! Magnolia warbler lit up the universe for this birder

American birder William Brewster wrote this on his first encounter with a magnolia warbler:

"Here was a revelation! Surely, only the tropics could boast such gems!"

Doubtless, his sentiment will be shared by those lucky enough to have watched the bird that arrived on Wednesday night on the Pembrokeshire coast.

  • Fantastic sighting, and I'm delighted for everyone who has managed to see it. Too far away for us, so we had to make do with the beautiful red-backed shrike which flaunted itself at Landguard Point in Felixstowe yesterday. That was a joyful afternoon!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
