IMO, common whitethroat or poss lesser whitethroat are the most likely.

Looking at photos, I don't think the common whitethroat as didn't have any brown in it. Possibly the lesser one but no distinctive white throat. And it was very round...! Thank you though :)

Most people, incl me, will have never seen a blue grey gnatcatcher. We're therefore reliant on finding the photo you are matching to your sighting. IMO, almost none of the photos make it look "round". Probably best to say which photo you believe is the closest match so we know what to compare to.

Also, this time of year, 'text book' adult breeding plumage is less likely and a lot of immature birds are about.

I've seen plenty of BGGs over the years and they are normally arboreal and fast moving- and don't really resemble Sylvia warblers at all
