Seagulls and woodpigeon chums!

Hello! I am a relatively new and ignorant RSPB member but spend countless hours observing the urban birds of our Victorian back greens in built-up central Edinburgh.

We are blessed with quite a diverse bird population thanks to lots of trees and wildlife hidden behind the tenements.

Lately, I've noticed that a woodpigeon and a seagull have been occupying the same chimney top overlooking the seagull's young (cheep, cheep).

They seem to be harmonious pals. Is this unusual? the woodpigeons are chums with the magpies too - I think their only chums!

Are woodpigeons known for their diplomacy? Woodpigeons for presidents I say! They are so openly demonstrative to their loved-ones too - gorgeous birds! Never judge a book by it's cover and all that.

Regards to all, chrissy macdougall
