Black tailed godwits

I saw two black tailed godwits at Cliffe Pools in Kent today. Surely this is strange?

They were adult birds. I really did. not expect to see them in Kent today. The only explanation I can think of is that it was very windy today. Maybe they become disoriented and ended up in Kent from their breeding ground in the Wash.
I’m no expert but they were definitely black tailed godwits. I can’t imagine their breeding in Kent now.
Any explanations will gratefully be received thanks

There is a small population of breeding/nesting Black Tailed Godwits in the UK,

Thanks. That map you put up shows that they are now resident in the Thames estuary. The old guide book I have does not show that. Cheers
