we have a robin in our garden that has very unusual feathers. She is not moulting. She has looked like this for more than a year now. Has anyone else ever seen this? Anyone know what causes it?
We have a lot of robins here and I’m hoping this isn’t a disease. She seems perfectly healthy otherwise. She just looks like a porcupine from the abdomen down!

Me too! Not unusual to see 'scruffy' Robins at end of busy nesting season but they usually come back to pristine condition after the moult so your one is unusual in that respect! I did have a female Blackbird with no tail which I assumed had been lost in an accident but she came back for the next two seasons looking exactly the same!
