Hi. I have a bird box with a camera inside it on the fron of my summerhouse. I was delighted to find a pair of blue tits have nested in the box and laid 13 eggs. The eggs began to hatch yesterday and I’ve noticed that at times, there are 3 adult birds in the box feeding the chicks. Is this common behaviour?
It made me think 'who's a lucky boy then' :-) 3 birds feeding the youngsters can only be an advantage. At last check one of our Blue Tit Nest Boxes was up to (I think) 11 eggs ... time to deploy the wildlife cameras to find out who is going in and out.
