Am I weird?

  • It goes without saying that the word 'weird' will draw me like a magnet.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • You don't have to be weird to like gulls but it helps. I think I would say I respect them for their intelligence.

  • That's a good way to describe TJ, I always marvel at how huge & sleek they are!

For me it's that, along with their beauty in flight - but especially their character and sheer cheek.

  • Hi Clare, Welcome back. Like Wendy, I was hoping you would see this! I've loved Herring Gulls since I saw them in our children's bird book when I was about 5, Was years before I actually saw one of them!

    Kind regards,

    Ann

  • I do like a Gull, especially the younger ones. So many wonderful variations in plumage. :-)

  • Another lover of gulls here too despite the fact they are incredibly hard to ID  with their multi species, plumages of summer, winter, 1st, 2nd year ,etc,,  doh !!!!!     They are amazing birds and are almost as clever as corvids !

  • A Sabines Gull is a thing of beauty. A Little Gull is just straight-up cute.

Happiness is an adult Hen Harrier that hasn't been shot, trapped or poisoned. Happiness is a rare commodity in the English uplands.

  • I do like a Med Gull and others at a distance as they are such magnificent flyers and as Tony has said very intelligent. Has anyone seen the vid in the news of a woman on Brighton beach being swamped by 20+ gulls after her fish & chips? Not fun.

Never seen the vid but I did see a guy get swooped on several times by a gull as he had just came out with a takeaway and it followed him down to this car!...wonder how safe the kids will be when they return to school next week!
