Hello and Big Garden Birdwatch

Hello. First post so forgive me if I'm not using the correct etiquette!  I started 'inviting' birds into my garden a year or so ago after watching amazing masses of goldfinches on sunflower seeds in my dads garden. I had never even seen a goldfinch before and now I have them and many other species in my own garden. My favourite time to watch them is Saturday morning when I'm not at work with my first cup of tea and total peace! I signed up for the big garden birdwatch online and received confirmation by email but haven't received anything relating to a download or a link to anything I can fill in next weekend.  Can anyone help with this? Thanks.

  • Thank you that's really helpful. I was expecting to receive some kind of recording sheet and instructions when I signed up but haven't had anything so will print that off thanks.

  • Hello Nixy, welcome from me up in the very far north of Scotland, in Caithness. The counting sheet is all you really need, once you go online you can answer all the other questions there. As Alan has said they really do know when we are counting them! Sometimes many come and maybe new ones while other keep away and as soon as you finish they all appear again, Grrrr. Enjoy here and look forward to reading your posts.

  • Thanks for the help everyone. I did my hour yesterday morning 9-10 and was really lucky in that just about everything that ever visits my garden did - including a squirrel!

  • Hi Nixy, there is a thread for adding what you saw, just if you are interested. It gives others a chance to see what birds visits folks gardens.
