Birding in Mallorca

Hi-

staying in the Porto Pollensa area is normally recommended.  The KIng guide is probably the best WTW book.

Mallorca is not as birdy as it was in the 70's and 80's unfortunately. The albufera reserve is probably the top site as the Bocquer valley and casas veyas seem to be a shadow of their former selves. Hence I switched to Lesbos 5 years ago.

We would like to announce you that a new ornithological tourism center has been opened in Port de Pollença, Mallorca.
This center is located next to a small wetland called la Gola, wich has been recently restored by the Department of the Environment, Department of Tourism of the Balearic Government, and the Pollença Council . In the center you can visit an exhibition about the most important places for birdwatching and walking on the marked paths around the wetland.

With this center we want to give new impetus to the ornithological tourism in the Balearic Islands, and offer to people the best information about the most interesting areas for birds, where to see certain species,  which are the most appropriate season, etc.
