Hi Roger.
Reading your post had me looking through my book shelf as I knew I had a Tony Soper book. The one I have is "Oceans of Birds" But not as old as yours !!!! my book is from 1991 but I was born in 1965 LOL.
I Believe Tony is still writing and he is now in his 80's.
You can still get an updated version of your book on Amazon as the last version was published in 2006.
Feed The Birds....not the cats!!!!

Thanks for that Big Robbo, I was wondering if he was still alive, he was very knowledgeable and I loved watching him on television

Nice one, its not the same cover but it must be the same book
Hi Roger
Just saw this thread today - have not been on Forum much lately. I have the Bird Table book too - I've had it since I was a child. Mine was printed in 1970 .
I've also got an even older book - a children's nature book called "The Hut-Man's Book: the "Hut-Man" of the BBC" - first published 1938 but mine is from 1950 - I enjoyed it as a little girl (though the book is a few years older than I am!) Anybody else read it?

Goodness me - Tony Soper - I am sure I used to watch some TV show he was on as a kid? My bird book collection consists of:
1. Observer's Birds - 1975 (pocket sized - some info out of date)
2. Spotter's Guide to Birds - Peter Holden - 1979 (kids book)
3. Our Australian Feathered Friends - 2007 (more about the character and personality of birds I met then decided to write a book about than a factual guide)
4. An Oxford bird guide of Dad's - that I run downstairs to borrow if I spot something I can't find in my Observer's guide...
5. Another book of Dad's... not sure what one, though - no cover.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Was he on Animal Magic with Terry Nutkins etc at all? I seem to remember him from around that time. I could be wrong though. I wasn't very old at all then!
I'm not bald. I've just got ingrowing hair!
Yes it's the same Tony Soper. he was on Birds Brittania last week. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vnf8d

Thanks for that. I thought I could remember him being on tv quite regularly at one point.
