For anyone interested in Scottish wildlife could do worse than read the books of Mike Tomkies.The author spent many years studying Golden Eagles,Wildcats and general wildlife in the fantastic area of North West Scotland,living alone in a lochside bothy he has written a number of books and taken many photos (pre digital days) to illustrate them.I am not sure if the books are still in print but they are well worth looking out for,there is also an early book set in Canada and a fantastic book on Spanish wildlife.

I second Seaman in reading Mikes books.The very first book I read was about his G.S.D Moobli(because I had two G.S.Ds at the time).I was hooked after this book and read loads more of his work which really are fantastic .I used the local library ,so It's worth a try ,if anyone is interested, to pay your own a visit.
