Curlews

Hi, I live on the Pennine moors in Saddleworth, and I've been blessed to watch a flock of 30-35 curlews (I heard them first, obviously...) for the past few days. They are initially on grazing land adjacent to rough moorland around 7:15am, then an hour or so later are a mile nearer civilisation feeding on another grazing field about half a mile from houses. Is this a sign of improving numbers, or a rarity?
