Thank, Seymouraves and Aiki - I might have to invest. We visited Sculthorpe Moor only last Saturday - Norfolk (and Suffolk) are wonderful counties for birdwatching.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I missed Neil Glenn :( Was sitting next to him and we didn't recognise each other as we've never met b4 :(

Sculthorpe is brilliant in winter- and just up the road are some new sites I only now know about thanks to NG.
Books like this are very useful even when you think you know the area, you can always use someone else's slant on the sites.Even though I have been birding in Yorkshire since a teenager I still find John Mathers book "Where to watch birds in Yorkshire" handy especially for arranging club outings. Will try to get Neil's book before a winter visit to Norfolk.
