Since people seem to be having trouble finding the old sections of the forum, I figured I'd put up a "map" of where the old sections are so here goes (hopefully I won't get lost!)

There's also a special forum for Wales under Get Involved > We Love Wales!

To return to the Main community homepage - just click the RSPB logo/Community icon at the top left of the corner.  This used to take you to the main RSPB page, but now will just take you straight back to the community home page :-)

Hope this helps a few people find some lost sections of the forum!  I think I have all the ones in the old forum listed :-)

Yes, they do ..... and not just new people either.

I think new members believe that Chat is the only 'forum', because it's the only one that doesn't have a down arrow, so they just click on it and post there. The other blue Tabs are misleading people because they think that the down arrow is the only option available. No-one expects that you can click on them as well to see different options.

    Best wishes Chris

Anyone thought of typing in where they want to be in the Search bar - that is the white square beneath the 'black' titles with white text on top of the screen.

    name...messages...Favourite places....sign out

then open white box....ready for typing in words.

The search box facility is great for all sorts of thing such as finding members names, threads, subjects if a 'common' word is typed in for this purpose

    Just another thought

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

    Hi Kathy

Yes it is, but it doesn't say it's a Search bar and new members probably don't know what it is. Let's be honest, not many people used to use the old Search bar because it was so slow. The new version is great and I use it a lot.

    Best wishes Chris

  • I agree completely with Woodpecker, with an additional comment that we should not have to use the search box to find recent threads in all the different forums. They should be obvious, along with details of who started the thread.

I see from another post today in the "who started the thread" topic that the software will not allow the facility to show the original poster's name, but will allow their avatar to be shown. Great ...... if only the avatars were big enough to identify the picture let alone the owner!

    Cheers, Linda.

Absolutely we shouldn't have to use the Search box to find threads, but at least it's one of the things that is working well.

Most things seem to be a compromise at the moment.

No news about Good Egg badges either. Perhaps we will just have to type Good Egg after our names, like the Mods type Moderator

    hi Chris

As you say it would be better to name the Search box facility so people do not overlook the possilities of using all areas that are aviable for use by members.

The new search facility is great to use so no compliants there - a bonus on here now to use.

Yes, the old search bar was a nightmare to use as it took forever to filter associated requested words.

    Kathy and Dave

    Hi Sparrow

Yes, using the Search facility should not be the only way to get around the Fourm.  Lets hope there other options in the pipeline.

Yes, the Good egg Awards are in a state of limbo at the moment and it would be nice to have them tied to our names for all to see once more - Good Eggs are there for a reason and once we have one it should be noted - and of course the possibilities of others receiving a Good egg too now and in the future too.

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Talking of the Good Egg awards has reminded me we don't have an announcement for the May Good Egg yet.

Perhaps the Mods can't find the right forum to post the announcement?

    LOL.
