There's also a special forum for Wales under Get Involved > We Love Wales!

To return to the Main community homepage - just click the RSPB logo/Community icon at the top left of the corner.  This used to take you to the main RSPB page, but now will just take you straight back to the community home page :-)

Hope this helps a few people find some lost sections of the forum!  I think I have all the ones in the old forum listed :-)

  • Just to return to the problem of posts being missed. It doesn't really matter which method we may use to find posts, the fact is they are being missed. This is easy to see just by noting the number of replies excluding thankyou's from the originator. Maybe this is down to the design of the site or maybe because contributors can no longer be bothered to hunt for them. Whatever the reason, the community has lost its spirit and warmth. I just hope it comes back. I feel very sad.

    Cheers, Linda.

    Hi Sparrow

You are absolutely right. It has, and so do I.

  • Hi all, just a quick update, I have repaired the broken links on KatTais forum map as the Homes for Wildlife section has now been moved into the main Wildlife section as requested by a number of you. With regards to your comments about lost posts, do you mean you are posting something and not being able to find it again or that you are noticing posts that are not getting any response?

Linda, I am with you on this one, I have started 2 new threads and even after I have finished creating them and posting them, I cannot find them even though I have, show latest posts selected,  I find that there is a lot of older stuff still showing first!, the only way for me to find my post is to go in via my profile.

I don't get email replies either, so I missed the few replies I got.

If I can't find my own posts how is anyone else going to see them?

I have reached the Whats the point of posting stage now.

I have tried to persevere with the forum, but it's just not working.

I am not a novice when it comes to using forums and running forum modules on my own website at one time.

I do not understand why we have such a car crash here, trust me it's not rocket science!!! it's dragging on and dragging on. WHY?

Time to take the bull by the horns and say ENOUGH

This layout is not working, go back to the tried and tested forum layouts as per the old forum, it worked it didn't need to change, the RSPB have either purchased a pig in a poke when they bought this software, or their designer is not very good, because having other forumites create a MAP or Talk other members through where to find things is an utter disgrace.

The only plus is the speed at which the forum runs and the ability to upload images.

    Hi Ian,

Many posts, particularly in the Wildlife main section (not from the drop down menu), are getting far less replies than they deserve, much less than they would have on the old forum. You can see this by looking at the number of replies then taking away the number of thankyou's from the original poster. People are lucky to get 4 or 5 replies, very lucky!

Trying to find new threads via the main Community home page is very time consuming because sometimes it takes only half an hour for them to get buried on pages 3, 4 or 5. Having the groups and forums listed together isn't working, even if you use the filters.

Some people are struggling and the Wildlife section navigation is dreadful!!.  As soon as you put your mouse over the blue tab, the drop down menu appears, and all you have to chose from are the 3 topics shown. This implies these 3 topics are all there are in Wildlife. To get to the others you have to click on the blue tab and ignore the drop down menu, but how many new people know this? This is not simple navigation, it's a basic design fault and really needs sorting.

    Cheers, Linda.

Sparrow I couldn't agree more. Most of the time it takes a lot of time and effort to add a new thread in the Wildlife section, people write a report about where they have been, and add lot's of photos, then within half an hour it has completely disappeared onto page 5 or 6 and only a couple of people have seen it.

It will get to the stage where people don't bother adding new threads.

    Best wishes Chris

  • Have you tried using the main wildlife forums page and latest forum posts section there? If the recent content from the wildlife forums is your main area of interest then using this as a starting point should be a good way of avoiding having to search through posts you do not want to read on the main communities home page. Hope this helps.

I have forwarded all of your comments on this thread to the respective staff that are dealing with the site upgrades, we are listening and we are trying to find ways to improve the site however please understand that we have had some errors with the new system that have not been fixed just yet which is slowing down the speed in which we can get things as we want them. We are hoping we'll turn a corner very soon, thanks for your patience.

    Hi Ian

Yes those of us who are getting used to the new format know we can go to the main Wildlife forums page, and see all of the wildlife forum posts there, but because the main blue Wildlife Tab doesn't currently say what is in that section, people who haven't already found all of the additional tabs and forums under the blue Wildlife Tab, by clicking on the Wildlife Tab rather than clicking on the down arrow, don't know that everything is there, so they look at the down arrow and don't investigate further.

You can see this is happening because everyone new posts everything in Chat
