we live surrounded by fields, trees etc cannot see any birds, odd magpie, 1 heron sometimes and 1 robin where are all the birds, did they die in snow, we have birds table out, but no birds
I'm happy to say my garden is busting with birds again, give it time they will be back.
Even the backbirds are back.
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Hello Irenenimmo, and welcome to the forum.
I'm sure if they were with you before the bad weather they will come back again. Just keep providing the right sort of food in the right sort of places and they will come.
Cheers, Linda.

I think the birds are enjoying the open green fields and gardens once more. I have noticed they are poking around the flowere beds and possibly finding worms and any natural food available now the snow has gone. Our feeders are still busy but not as busy as they were last week.
They should all be back come Wednesday if the forecast heavy snow actually happens!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
I hope so, Squirrel. I need something to cover up and hide the mushy mess still everywhere in my gravel!!!

The birds appear first thing in the morning here and once just before it gets dark. The ground feeders are emptied every day and I am sure that the food disappears at first light before I get up.
Dave and I bought a load of birdfood yesterday and are well stocked up now.
Squirrel: I heard about the impending snow this Wednesday and possibly Friday. I pray to goodness that we do not get any more.
Our Blue Tit is still enjoying the coconut full of fat. Now the Peanut feeder has become more of an item now with the resident Blue Tit. I think I positioned the 'Peanut' Feeder in the wrong place and now the birds easily see it /
It has felt very spring like today, and l hope that the weather only improves now.
Regards
Kathy and Dave
I had lots of birds last week I filled up the feeders saturday. ive seen nothing really unusual yes we have lots of fields and farms around but nothing. ?
All my birds definitely seem to think something is in the air. After a fairly relaxed day of feeding yesterday they have been manic this morning. I have seen more great tits today than I saw in the whole of 2009.
Kathy:- You are not that far from me and my met office forecast is for snow tomorrow (Wednesday). However, the Metcheck site (which was saying snow tomorrow) has now moved it to Friday and Saturday. I am going to assume it will snow on Thursday LOL......... Now, where did I put my pine cone and seaweed?
I've just heard the snow is tomorrow, but only across Wales, South Midlands and towards London, along the M4. Then the presenter admitted they really don't know!!!!
Squirrel - snap as far as the feeding frenzie this morning. I must have had over 30 sparrows, plus dunnocks, and blackbirds on the ground, with loads of tits, my regular starlings, robins, doves and pigeons, plus a large group of goldies, all at once, and all feeding like it was their last super. It was noisy and manic. They weren't even put off by Lola the dog sitting like a statue on the patio table, surveying her territory.
I wonder if birds have a 6th sense about impending bad weather. It is quite mild here today.
