  • That's a nice one! Not a 'common' one either as he doesn't have the white neck ring!

  • Hi Janet, I can see them. As you see from my avatar, we have a 'resident' one, who doesn't stray too far from the garden, but this last week he has started shouting before dawn, so he is not very popular !! He has been around for about three years and chases any other pheasant who dare to approach. Other birds ignore him and you will find they can be quite tame if you feed your's.

  • Hi Janet, I can see him.  Bonny boy, are you near the countryside?

I'm always look forward to seeing the wonderful green of the leaf buds coming into life you don't see any other time of year and the first swallow around the 15th April.  Spring, Spring Spring.

  • Hi Janet, how lovely, I always think they look very reagle, they are proud looking birds the way they strut. there is a forest not to far from me where you can glimpse the Golden Pheasants, don't see them very often they are quite shy.

There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.

  • Hi MarJus

your right there no white ring, so what kind is he?

  • Hi MarJus

looking at books and internet, it more then likely a common pheasant

  • Hi Janet,

Someone may be able to put me right, but I think he is just a variation of a 'common' or ring necked pheasant! I *think* that the "Caucasus" pheasant doens't have a neck ring but I'm no expert!!

I should have used the word 'unusual' as opposed to common being the species name, but I was playing on words....
