(OCTOBER 2024 HATCHES - session starts on PAGE 23)
2022-23 season's thread
One of the 3 eggs did not hatch. KATE gathered this info for us:
SunnyKate23 Jan 2023 4:24 PMUPDATE
NEWS 29th December 2022 The egg was removed and I 'candled' it with a torch. The egg has a slight leak through a small crack, but is otherwise intact. Despite using a very strong LED torch, I could see nothing, so I think the eggshell is too thick. It may be that the chick simply could not emerge. I'll offer it to the Australian Museum.
Two chicks fledged: Indigo and Rubus, both males. Indigo, the elder, was last seen on 18 March when Diamond blocked his entry to the nest box. Rubus fledged @ 46 days but died 9 days later, the result of a flying accident.

06 November
Oh dear, must have been something in the feeding!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It's nighttime now - this is the day earlier - couldn't decide which so here are both (and probably could have found a closer view but only scrolled clip from the afternoon):
Fabulous pics Scylla ... suddenly the duo are almost unrecognisable
09 November
This was their last meal - teatime, so they'll be very, very hungry at breakfast:
10 November
Garrama got rather close to falling out - and there was another bit that I've forgotten to add, where Yira nearly knocked him off!
Sorry been AWOL, been visiting grandchildren etc, had a lovely time, but very hectic, after my solitary existence.,and no laptop as had to travel back by 4 hour train journey. doh!!!!as sudden change of plans all their workwise.
Will catch up properly tomorrow hopefully
Pleased to hear you had a good time with family Kate but what an arduous trek to get back home, take great care
Well spotted Scylla......and Cilla made comments re very same video.. in News
NEWS 10th November The nestlings (Yira, the larger female and Garrama, male*) are now 36 and 37 days old and doing lots of "wingersizing" and mostly self-feeding already. Average time from hatch to fledge at this site is 42 days. Males often go earlier than females. So fledge watch starts about 12th November.
In fact Garrama almost took off this morning
What a welcome for you, dear KATE! I just had a tremor and may have inadvertently reported your post - let's hope there's the usual response - none
So glad you had a nice (if busy) break x
Morning of the 11th in Oz:
I think this was the next day but have forgotten :(((
Well that last pic of Garrama, looks as if, saying you to you " what did you do that for?" Ha!!! So as I am still posting we assume they will ignore .xxxx
