(OCTOBER 2024 HATCHES - session starts on PAGE 23)
2022-23 season's thread
One of the 3 eggs did not hatch. KATE gathered this info for us:
SunnyKate23 Jan 2023 4:24 PMUPDATE
NEWS 29th December 2022 The egg was removed and I 'candled' it with a torch. The egg has a slight leak through a small crack, but is otherwise intact. Despite using a very strong LED torch, I could see nothing, so I think the eggshell is too thick. It may be that the chick simply could not emerge. I'll offer it to the Australian Museum.
Two chicks fledged: Indigo and Rubus, both males. Indigo, the elder, was last seen on 18 March when Diamond blocked his entry to the nest box. Rubus fledged @ 46 days but died 9 days later, the result of a flying accident.

I know the movement can help, especially with fuzzy cams, but couldn't face editing this morning's meal so have done my best with a snap - they both got some bites
EDIT - I've checked all the turnings up to about 17:00 and not found any pip/crack in #3.
Yep same here, no pip or crack, interesting that these Two have only ever had One or Two hatch, NEVER number Three
06 October breakfast - #1 got the lion's share but #2 eventually did OK:
Thanks Scylla what a fantastic session, amazing how the mum knows which chick is a little less prepared to digest.
Is this a TINY dent?????
Not sure Kate, tried an enlargement ...
Thanks Wendy
So many markings on that egg difficult, and she seems to be not so intent on incubating,
..
I spent much of yesterday doing GSWs at LG and then abandoning them... :-/ Otherwise, not much work at all!
Last Oz night I found a clear unblemished view of the egg - nothing for the whole of today so far (but my internet went down for a whiile), you'd think there was no egg at all from what I found.
