(OCTOBER 2024 HATCHES - session starts on PAGE 23)
2022-23 season's thread
One of the 3 eggs did not hatch. KATE gathered this info for us:
SunnyKate23 Jan 2023 4:24 PMUPDATE
NEWS 29th December 2022 The egg was removed and I 'candled' it with a torch. The egg has a slight leak through a small crack, but is otherwise intact. Despite using a very strong LED torch, I could see nothing, so I think the eggshell is too thick. It may be that the chick simply could not emerge. I'll offer it to the Australian Museum.
Two chicks fledged: Indigo and Rubus, both males. Indigo, the elder, was last seen on 18 March when Diamond blocked his entry to the nest box. Rubus fledged @ 46 days but died 9 days later, the result of a flying accident.
Cilla Kinross's daily news
YouTube Channel with 4 cams
"Box" cam with Chat feature
HATCH-WATCH starts on 01 OCTOBER!
Therefore I've taken the liberty of starting this thread.
Evening changeover:
IMAGICAT
The Tower cam has been down again, just checked and it's still in buffer mode.
Dr Cilla's song makes me realise that Astrid Gilberto wasn't just a pretty face - not an easy song to sing!
Thank you for all that, KATE - I haven't yet checked any more since the last time.
NEWS 26th December 2023 Cilla Kinross
The tower cam stream started buffering again today after working well for four days. I tried a 'safe restart' but this did not help. The IT staff are on leave until 2nd January, so I'm afraid there will be no stream until then. Apologies.
According to chat..." Diamond trying to eat ants

I've got it on Box and Ledge cams, but neither shows up the ants - so no video done.
This'll be Diamond's second night running away from the box, but she's spent a lot of time in it today, pottering now 'n then - and I think Xav has been in too.
Unless there are violent objections, I shall cease covering these cams as of nowish - Cilla and others will no doubt continue to provide videos of interesting bits.

It's the same year, KATE, and here we go again
I got to thinking about them whilst mulling over the differences between Peregrine & Sooty Falcons.
08 September 2024
I did a bit of double-take because Diamond is only referred to as "mother" in the Description, but I see that she's referred to by name in Chat... phew!
Yay!! well done Scylla, as you say 'Here we go again'will all THREE be success this year ???????
Hatching is due the first week of October.

Thought I would start looking in
Change over Diamond wants her eggs back ,and a quick peep at the Eggs.
@SCYLLA ...do we want to start a fresh Year? or continue adding to this thread? Just a thought CHOL:):)

I haven't started yet - so much clearing up to do from Osps, plus daunting task on laptop that was broke and went repeatedly to mender's.

I was persuaded to continue with this one because it's got 2023/24 in the title and this breeding session is unlikely to stretch into 2025. I'm not very good at making decisions, I will go along with other contributors' strong opinions, no prob. My introlducory post and others can easily be copied if desired.
EDIT
Am I going to have a bad day? I typed "decisions" as "desicions"... and look what I've done to "introductory"
