(OCTOBER 2024 HATCHES - session starts on PAGE 23)
2022-23 season's thread
One of the 3 eggs did not hatch. KATE gathered this info for us:
SunnyKate23 Jan 2023 4:24 PMUPDATE
NEWS 29th December 2022 The egg was removed and I 'candled' it with a torch. The egg has a slight leak through a small crack, but is otherwise intact. Despite using a very strong LED torch, I could see nothing, so I think the eggshell is too thick. It may be that the chick simply could not emerge. I'll offer it to the Australian Museum.
Two chicks fledged: Indigo and Rubus, both males. Indigo, the elder, was last seen on 18 March when Diamond blocked his entry to the nest box. Rubus fledged @ 46 days but died 9 days later, the result of a flying accident.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
09 Dec from Cilla:
Last night I was watching the fledgeling in the roost trees flying from tree to tree and, going by general size and, in particular, size of feet, I now think it is Marri. I also took some measurements when she and the adults were standing by the lightning rod, although this wasn't conclusive as the poses of all three were a bit different.. I'm still not 100% sure, but it's the best I can do at the moment.
Cilla posted another Tower video with music - https://youtu.be/0FNHaf2m5rs
This is a snap from that vid - Marri(?) has schlepped up the roof and Xavier is fleeing

Thank you so much, KATE !!!
This is not comprehensive but gives us quite a good look at her, occasionally:
Cilla gave the box and cam a darn good clean-up and added some fresh gravel. Gabuda was removed for examination later. Diamond and Xavier (and Marri, for all I know) were super indignant at the intrusion and after much protesting left the box empty for a few hours.
I'm doing a video but it's taking hours, and going to have to leave some of it processing and continue tomorrow... I mean later today, of course. In the meantime, here are some of Cilla's Chat comments:
