Blue House Farm Barn Owls - From March 2023 onwards (c) Essex Wildlife Trust

  • Checking the flooring

    Looking up

    Preening

She did call but I missed capturing a pic. Just prior to exiting the box

  • The female's back and now calling a lot - more than I've shown

She looks damp, perhaps after hunting

She left again. Tips of her wings shown at the exit

  • The female is in. She has been scraping at the flooring and breaking up pellets (screenshots from my phone, hence smaller) This was her 2nd visit of the evening, pics on chat show her in the box at 20:57

    TBC

  • Cont'd...

She had just finished scratching under her beak

    And she had left

This was the first time I've seen the female during the evening since the 26th. The last time I saw the male was on the 18th - I hope he's ok.

  • Lovely pics, thanks Sandra, didn't realise it was that long since male was in, bit worrying!

  • The female has just arrived in the box

    Scraping the flooring

    Back to the flooring

    Feeling sleepy

    About to leave

    You're welcome, Wendy.

    Yes, it is quite worrying...

  • I don't know how long she had been back in

Calling. Would she do this if the male wasn't around?

    Sleepy again

    Did she hear something?

    She headed out again

Edit: There's a pic on chat showing her in the box at 23:41, calling (it was stated that she was doing this regularly and what appeared to be, loudly)

  • 1.5.23 The female was in the corner, calling

    A quick glance up

    A friend or foe outside?

    Off to investigate

  • Not sure if just arrived.
