As with the 2020 season, barn owls did not use the box for breeding in 2021, will this year be different?

Thank goodness she hadn't laid another overnight!
I've copied over these pics from chat taken at around 3am. They show the male's right eye - one is the clearest view of it fully open that I've seen
I just looked in , and surely that is not a chick hatched is it?
she was nibbling/cleaning something right underneath her, ( in front of the two eggs visible)
Nothing seen in that position in your pic, Kate, when she got up
There were some eggs behind her as she turned to settle again but it was not a great view to do a full egg count. As you said, perhaps it was a feather
I don't think anymore eggs were hiding! 9 on view
