As with the 2020 season, barn owls did not use the box for breeding in 2021, will this year be different?

In answer to that question, yes!
9 eggs laid: Incubation period is 30-31 days
Hatches:
1st chick - 21.5.21 2nd chick - 23.5.22 3rd chick - 24.5.22 4th chick - 26.5.22 5th chick - 29.5.22 6th chick - 2.6.22 7th chick - ??? 8th chick - 5.6.22
Still at 9 eggs
Hopefully no more,, am sure I recall our Cornwall birds, at one time, had a large number and sadly not a good outcome, still, we must hold out hope for some good .
As Wendy said, Nature not always a happy ending, but we are still privileged to be able to witness.
Prey delivery and mating!
Female calling
Female stood up and took the prey into the corner to eat
He finally turned around. It's the original male
A second prey drop and mating! Prey in female's beak
He left immediately
An egg count while the female popped out!
Pecking around in the pellets
And settled again
I'm going to have a screen break. BBS
She had gone out again
And back. Bless her.
It was so good to see the male drop off prey this evening.
