Good to see Owly in residence this morning!
Thought it was gone but then I see it tucked right up top under the clock !
Thanks, All, for pics and posts. We went to a local RSPB group meeting tonight and heard a man from the BTO talking about the BTO Owl projects. He had fabulous photos and a lot of very interesting information about UK Owls but said they still do not have as much information as they'd like. If I remember rightly, the figures for survival of adult birds from year to year are good for those Owls for which they have most data, Barn Owls, and fledging rates are also good but total numbers are still dropping anyway. Total numbers are dropping for all UK Owls. Apparently, the problem seems to be in the rates of fledged juveniles surviving to become breeding adults themselves but exactly what causes that is just not known for certain. Presumably, like with other wildlife, the causes are numerous.
Kind regards, Ann
Owly wasn't there earlier this morning ... but it is now!
