This lovely raven pair have set up home at a Byko store in Selfoss, Iceland! Aren't they beautiful?
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Nestlings have begun flapping their wings. Soon they will be walking on the ledge, I think. Here's just a stretch showing the wings.

Must be very loud on the nest at the moment.
Their eyes are blue and mouths are red, though the beaks look more and more like adults. Feathers are coming in, too and the gray down is being nibbled at and is floating off. They are also beginning to nibble on the twigs.
Standing and stretching.
Hard to believe there are five bodies in there! Soon they will be squeezed out onto the ledge... They were just so raucous in their calls that a customer stopped to look up at them while they were yelling at the parent!
Well, April 9th the eggs started to be laid, then hatching happened about May 1, now soon they will be taking the plunge... the Wellesley website still has an estimated timeline of events, but I can't tell from the general schedule. Cornell Ornithology says 28 - 50 days is the nestling period. The thread created here for Wellesley Ravens 2016 has them hatching around April 13th and fledged by May 31st, about a month and a half.
