*** 2017 *** Happy New Year !!!
Welcome to our little group following the Cornish Barn Owls, hoping for a successful season in 2017.
We have a couple (female ringed) getting to know each other, no mating yet (that we have seen).
There was a visit to the barn earlier, didn't stay long, floated out stage right:
Techie note for newbies:
The barn cam is still badgering a lot and while it's not the stream is still on-off-on-off - the intermittent sound being the telltale - and there's a huge, variable lag on it.
IMAGICAT
7:45 Both were in the box when I logged on this morning, still there now.
Reported on the Nestcam Diary today:
March 2017
17th – still more copulation this morning at about 9.45am
17:30 Female in the box, making her usual rasping calls, male not on view in the barn.
18:17 After leaving the box 10 minutes or so prior to this scap, the female made a dash from the back of the barn to inside the box as there were children's voices outside.
18:26 The male, who was not previously seen in the barn, came into the box. Mating occurred...hmmm, not in front of the children lol!
18:50 All quiet outside the barn now. Both still resting in the box.
18:53/18:54 A whole lotta head preening and kissy, kissy going on! :D
19:01 Male left the box
19:03 Female came out in hot pursuit!
19:07 Female re-entered the box, straight to the egg corner and then the floor debris was literally flying as she was scraping it!
19:12 She left to join the male somewhere out of view in the barn
19:15 One preening on the back beam. Left the barn at 19:26
Morning Sandra
Some good caps and info , the children do seem to be more active this year, am sure the birds will get used to them.
Barn was empty, as I went to check Box, Ha!! the Male popped out onto tray Mrs still waiting in box.07.05
Morning Kate, I remember last season, when the 2 babes were ringed (thanks to Scylla's nestcam vid with sound), the children were in the barn at the time. :)
10:16 Mating (I recognised the noises!). No scap as the nestcam is slightly out of sync with the barncam and the 'deed' had already been done!
20:40 Female is on the tray. Left at 20:52
21:05 She came back and had a peek into the box.
21:08 She then went to the back of the barn before flying past the cam.
21:49 Female came into the box quite quickly, I half expected the male to follow but he didn't appear.
21:53 She went back onto the tray, called a few more times then flew out.
22:31 She came back to the tray again, her calls were very high-pitched rasps (as if she had a sore throat!). Had another peek through the pop hole then left the barn.

Morning Kate. Still no sign of our CBOs
12:10 Empty nest box and barn
20:02 No sight nor sound of our BOs all day or evening so far.
23:35 No activity to report. Very unusual not to see (or hear) our CBO's, I hope they are ok.
