*** 2017 *** Happy New Year !!!
Welcome to our little group following the Cornish Barn Owls, hoping for a successful season in 2017.
We have a couple (female ringed) getting to know each other, no mating yet (that we have seen).
There was a visit to the barn earlier, didn't stay long, floated out stage right:
Techie note for newbies:
The barn cam is still badgering a lot and while it's not the stream is still on-off-on-off - the intermittent sound being the telltale - and there's a huge, variable lag on it.
IMAGICAT
19:30 Both on the back beam behind the nest box
19:41 The one on the left flew out of the barn followed shortly after by the other.
00:40 Nothing else to report. Goodnight ladies :)
Thanks Sandra
Both on the Tray Wind sounding really blustery and it is WET outside.!!!
YW Kate.
10:44 Both still cosied up together :)
15:54 Female entered the box, rasping quite loudly. The male finally joined her but wasn't interested in mating.
16:00 All quiet in the box as they both rest.
16:08 Male left the box.
16:12 Female left the box and moved to the tray. Male not on view in the barn
16:30 Female still there
19:30 Both on the back beam
Only one visible (can hear the female rasping) 19:36
After both leaving the barn, one came back and has been resting, just about visible, on the back beam for almost a couple of hours (22:55)
Morning Sandra
sorry I posted earlier and forgot to press post DOH!Thanks for last evening.
Here at the moment one in one out.
Both now in box mrs with ring looks much smaller but must be angle...
20:34 Female is in the box and appears to be calling - sound can't be in sync with the barn cam
20:39 Male is in the box with her. He left at 20:40 but isn't visible on barncam.
Have to keep refreshing the barn LS so definitely not in sync with the nestcam as the female still appears to be calling.
Female left the box but then came back in for a short time (22:11) before leaving again a few minutes later.
My computer decided to shut itself down after my last comment so may have missed some action!
Barn Owl entered with prey. Need to play it back for ID.
Thanks Scylla! I rely so much on the sound from the barncam for my evening reports which I haven't been getting this evening.
