The near fledglings are now watching their parents carefully as they fly to and from the nest surroundings. The flapping is much more vigrous and they are wandering to the edges of the nest. Their vocalizations are much deeper and croakier now.
A quiet time in the afternoon. Aren't they beautiful now?
Stunning looking birds, my audio doesn't seem to be working so can't hear them but they look really healthy and strong.
Lot to learn
The Natives are Restless! You can hear the parent vocalizing "groh" in the background. I don't know if she is encouraging them to come out or not, but they are definitely getting the wandering spirit.
Take a look over by the nest for the wanderers.
Actually, that one in the corridor in the previous pic might have been one of the parents.
Uh oh. I just got home and see only three in the nest area.
Pretty sure the one on the railing is a parent.
Well, at this point I see one in the corridor and three on the nest. Is the one in the corridor a parent?
They are definitely wandering! Here's two parents perching with one juvie below. Then another one with one perching, second parent flying up and 2 juvies.
One of the juvies just tried to fly up to join the parents but didn't make it. :-/
Here's a couple wandering videos. They are very curious, and both parents are trying to encourage them to be adventurous in their perching skills.
