I'm very happy to say that the stunning pair of ravens who built a nest on a fire escape at Wellesley College last year have returned for a second season! They are incubating three eggs.
Feast your eyes on this:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
As much as I love these birds I wish they would feed the babies at an angle which lets me see them all!
Me too C, those little babes are fairly indistinguishable in the nest until they open their gapes!!
Great vid capture CC, thanks!

Hi Clare and WendyB, I think it is the angle they fly in from coming around the nest. They won't be little for very long, but they will still be cute! I have a hard time telling between Pauline and Henry, but they are good parents, I think.

I can't tell Pauline from Henry at all - I just assume that Pauline spends much more time on the nest than Henry does!
Here's a clip of the three pink gaping mouths showing on the left, and then Henry arrives to dispense food to Pauline who then feeds the hungry mouths.
Henry just delivered again, and the kids are being fed a second time. Pauline seems very content and domestic, her head and throat feathers all fuzzed up as she stands over her young.
like mom like chick.
Feeding again. It's like target practice for Pauline to get her beak safely down their throats, I think, with all that wobbling around by three heads.
I don't know where #3 is - thought I saw it earlier... :-/
Oh yes, Dad just flew in with reinforcements and all three heads were up! :)
