I'm very happy to say that the stunning pair of ravens who built a nest on a fire escape at Wellesley College last year have returned for a second season! They are incubating three eggs.
Feast your eyes on this:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

I think they have fledged!
Have they gone from the hallway as well?
Hi Clare - yes I think they have gone from the hallway. I did not see them go into the hallway except that once. I checked the alternate cam last night to see the environs empty. This weekend I have been away, so had missed their first flights. :(
Just thought I'd mention that there's a lovely video compilation on the RavenCam page. As with last season they're promised the RavenCam will return if the birds do. Fingers crossed!
Enchanting vid, thanks for the nod C & do hope they return to nest next year!

Hi all, I have been checking to see if there will be a 2016 Raven Cam at Wellesley this year. So far no luck. But I wanted to promote this thread in case anyone gets any news. I may try to find Nick Rodenhouse, the guy responsible for initiating the cam in the past two years.
I just heard from Nick:
Hi Cathy,
They have been around the Science Center during the past few days, but no sign of nest building yet. I did see a raven carrying a stick to the top of a tall pine about 1/2 mile from the Science Center about a week ago, so it could be that she has decided to nest elsewhere -- in an inaccessible place -- this year. We will know for sure in about a week.
I'll let you know what happens.
Nick
I have just heard an update from Nick - the camera is LIVE.
Hi Cathleen,
Thanks for sharing our sketches. They are great.
This note is to let you know that the raven cam is rolling again. www.wellesley.edu/ravencam
See also the test page at web.wellesley.edu/.../live-tabs.html
You can use this second page to toggle between the two cameras. Soon the main page will allow you to choose which camera you want to use. The deck camera will become interesting once the young are out and about. If all 5 eggs hatch, it should be quite a noisy show.
All the best,
