I'm very happy to say that the stunning pair of ravens who built a nest on a fire escape at Wellesley College last year have returned for a second season! They are incubating three eggs.
Feast your eyes on this:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I find it absolutely staggering that these birds have nested somewhere which is so surrounded by a man-made structure. We all know that they have nested in a place which is absolutely safe for them but how ever did they come to that conclusion? They are supposed to be an overwhelmingly shy species where humans are concerned.
LOL, Clare! I agree it is amazing that they chose this place. All I can think of is that they are familiar with the territory including the campus, perhaps having been reared close by, and have thought, "Why not?"

Everyone asleep except for a tiny twitch from a little one.
Not any more:
It is so good to see three beaks all coming up strongly:
Hi Clare. Looks like three spring flower blooms, LOL!
More like three Sarlacc mouths (Star Wars!). All they need are tentacles.
