Yes that tuft. Reminds me a bit of Gremlins! We now have a high definition camera on a small bracket outside the nest, this is being recorded 24 hrs a day. It will form part of the year's highlights when all is done.
Last night - just two sleeping in the nest cavity
and this morning, they seem to be thinking of taking the plunge
I must say, for a nest which has been so crowded, it's very tidy. They seem to have managed to poo outside; there's just a carpet of pellets made up of vole fur.
A lot of the poo was directed at the glass in front of the camera, which meant regular cleaning!
These are the videos showing the Weasel attack in early April. It gets worse in Part 2. Part 3 is the following morning.
This video from outside the nest shows four of the five enjoying a sunny day and the male visiting.
Here is vid footage (unedited) from inside the nest this morning starting with a gory meal!!

Weasel attack vids certainly very graphically shocking, poor Mrs K!! How that egg remained whole through all that is just amazing, she did look very mauled the next day but obviously so resilient to carry on with egg laying, the sights we have had of her healthy chicks are testament to her tenacity!
The onlooking Jackdaw had the fright of it's life though ... no wonder they did not nest there this year!
Are you intending to carry on with the 2015 thread?... she asked, aghast
I'm downloading the stream and produced a little vid from yesterday's footage, including a couple of vocals but not spectacular ;)
Nighttime vigil (brightened):
Good morning!

Heaven knows how one will find time to do justice to this gorgeous bird and family-to-be :-/
