OK, I know we're still in the depths of winter, with much to come, but spring is waiting in the wings! It will be great to hear from you any details of these first signs be it early nesting birds, the first blossom, or a butterfly venturing forth in weak sunshine. If you have dates from previous years for comparison, these will certainly add interest, but we'll gradually build these up in years to come. Look forward to hearing from you - I'm sure it won't be long!
Watch out for swifts
Our snowdrops have finally opened and the daffodil shoots are roughly one inch above the soil - so they had better get a move on!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
My climbing hydrangea is in full bud, but they like it cold. My other hydrangea mop heads are just coming. Snowdrops a bit sorry for themselves, but daffs well above the ground.
Cheers, Linda.

Have noticed lots of catkins turning from green to yellow - I really love them as they make bare trees so attractive before the leaves appear. With crocuses, they are an excellent source of nourishment for early flying bees. Looks like the cold weather is returning for a spell - let's hope it's brief, as birds are already tuning up for the breeding season and many will have chosen their nest site.
Wiltshire - the snowdrops are in flower and crocuses are just beginning to come out. Miniature spring cyclamen have been in flower for a couple of weeks.
There is something new to learn everyday...

My miniature cyclamen have all died.
Oh dear, sorry to read that Sparrow. They may shoot again though, if the corms are not damaged. I hope so as they are such pretty little plants.
Yes, it's a shame, but they look as dead as a Dodo. I'll leave them to see what happens.
Sorry about the cyclamen Sparrow. The corms don't like sitting in water, which this winter is a definite possibility, which then would have remained frozen for a long time. We have lost some and the corms had become one large slimey mess.
Not to worry. There will have been worse casualties.
Freezing cold wind but a bit of sun today. Here is my sign of spring - primroses in my garden
