If its no fun Yer no doin it right!
Thank you Sarah for adding this superb programme onto here {big smile}
It was a fabulous programme from a country that has gone through a lot of troubles. It was disturbing to see that the Reed Marshes which covered thousands of miles has been dried out by peoples actions and disrespect of this planet for their own ends from all those years ago.
What a dire thing to do all those years ago, and that is affect the wildlife to go along with the warzone that still exists to his day - we only wish it will go and peace will be resumed soon enough in the future.
It just shows with a little human intervention that a lot can be done to bring the wildlife back to where it was before. Even though the area was destroyed and dead looking, simply opening out the water canals has brought in bird species like the Marbled Teal in their droves - much to the wildlife teams surprise as they thought they where near extinct as a species in the area.
Great to see Iraq birds that only thrive in the one area in the world
Love to see the same area in a decades time and see if it is back to its full glory once more.
Worth a watch as Iraq is a rare opportunity to see wildlife of any description scripted into a programme as this one shows us, and it is a jewel in the crown to watch
Kathy and Dave
Another link about the conservation are with lots of connected video links to give a good insight into the background of the programme and the conservationists involved in the project.

Wasn't it a super programme! I am in awe of those Iraqi naturalists who are trying to make it happen in the face of adversity. Hats off- where theres a will theres a way...so what excuse have we in this country then? Or wIll we just put it down to good old british apathy and leave it at that :-)
It was a great programme but I'm glad we do not have to go to all that trouble to visit our local wetland.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Thank you Sarah ;)))
Just starting to watch the program now on iPlayer
The original link took me to the HD version of the program which was a little much for my old netbook
The link to the normal resolution version for others with less than state of the art computers should be here ....

Hi Nigel
Will take note of that with the I-player link in the future with the HD link over the ordinary one.
Thanks Nigel. That didn't even occur to me to check that.
Glad to hear that it was a good programme - I recorded it, as was watching the Trevor Mcdonald travel thingy on ITV. Now looking forward to watching the Iraq programme tonight!
Agree with you all. I don't know how they're doing it in a country needing so much reconstruction. All power to their elbows!
All the best,
Alyson
